주칠함은 물건을 담아 보관하기 위해 제작된 목제함으로, 가공성이 뛰어난 소나무로 만들어졌습니다. 주칠은 복을 상징하는 붉은 옻칠로, 주로 왕실이나 사대부가의 고급 기물에 사용되었습니다.
함 전체에는 붉은빛 주칠(朱漆)이, 모서리에는 흑칠이 칠해져 색채 대비가 돋보입니다.
전면 원형 테두리 안의 ‘복(福)’과 ‘수(壽)’ 자는 길상 의미를 더하고, 꽃을 연상시키는 잠금 장석은 미감을 더합니다.

The entire surface of the box is covered in red lacquer, while the corners are accented in black lacquer, creating a striking contrast.
The Chinese characters 福 (good fortune) and 壽 (longevity) are inscribed within a round border on the front, enhancing its auspicious significance. The lock hardware, shaped like a flower, adds to its aesthetic appeal.
